Were the Pyramids ancient batteries?

Many competing theories have been put forward over the years about the purpose of the Egyptian pyramids; burial chambers for Pharaohs, water pumps, even navigational beacons for alien. An engineer has added to list of purposes and suggested that the shafts and chambers of these megalithic structures may have been designed to generate electricity.
