Former Cambridge University students passed information to the Soviet Union during WW2 until at least the early 1950s.
No members were ever prosecuted for spying.
To this day, the number of people involved in providing information to the former Soviet Union is unclear. Originally called the ‘Cambridge Four’ it evolved to become the ‘Cambridge Five’ after John Cairncross was revealed to be a member in 1990.
